Plating wears

Plating wears. When it does, the base metal touches your skin. How long that takes depends on the thickness, where you wear it, and how often. We list the thickness so you can compare.

The base metal on this piece is brass, and brass contains nickel. Once the gold is gone, brass is the surface against your skin.

Delivered sealed

Earrings and other pieces worn in a piercing are delivered sealed. Once the seal is broken they cannot be returned, because they cannot be resold safely. This is the only exception to the fourteen-day right, and it does not apply to necklaces, bracelets, rings or clasps.

About this piece

The third of the three. Same brass core, same 5 mm domed face, same polish — and as thick a layer as electroplating goes before it starts to lose adhesion and lift instead of wear. Everything you are paying the extra sixty dollars for is in the thickness.

What we would tell you before you buy

Five micrometres is still measured in millionths of a metre, and the core is still brass.

Your rights on this order

You can report a fault for three years from delivery. For the first two years, if something is wrong, we have to show it wasn't faulty when you got it. Not the other way round.

You have fourteen days to change your mind, counted from the day after your parcel arrives. You do not have to give a reason. This piece is delivered sealed, and the seal is the one exception — see the notice above.

If we say no to your claim and you disagree, you can take it to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN). It is free for you, and we will follow their recommendation.

Not sure this is the right metal?

Metal Match asks three questions about what you have worn before. It does not ask about your health, and it cannot tell you what you react to.
